Saturday was beautiful. After some yard work, Sonia & I took a break and went to Black Hand Gorge. The 4+ mile bike trail is paved, mostly flat, and follows the Licking River. There's an eagle's nest along the river, but we didn't see the occupants this time.
The sycamores looked great against the crystal blue sky.
The water was up and presented a challenge. My footwear could handle the water, but Sonia's couldn't.
I coulda carried her across, but... well, we just turned back and enjoyed more nature on the return trip.
We're looking forward to seeing more of the trail in the future.

Wow....what great shots! It's great checking in with your "Life Hike" from here in Mexico. Ttreck across the overflow stream cojured up a story I told Soja. Keep commited to your walks and I'll keep checking in.
C&S,
With church being called due to the weather, it was a great morning for hiking through the fresh snow! (Something wrong with that picture, I know!) Just south of Lancaster, there's a nice set of trails called Alley Park. Nobody had walked there yet, so the 17 inches of snow was all ours'! Brilliant blue skies, the shadows off the trees...the dogs had a ball! So did I. Lisa thought it was pretty, but the snow was deep enough to make it a pretty good workout! No pictures to show for it, but we built a pretty good looking snowman when we got home. We'll email the pics.
Keep on walkin'!

It sounds like you folks had a great time walking through Blackhand Gorge. I found your blog site looking for information on the eagle nest you mention. This is SO exciting. My two children and I canoed the Licking River this past Sunday from Staddens Bridge Road through Blackhand Gorge to Toboso Road. We saw the nest with a large bird inside but couldn't be sure that it was an Eagles nest. This helps confirm what we thought we saw. Thank you so much for helping us confirm our sighting. We live near this area and are planning to take binoculars with us next time so that we can see more clearly. Hope you folks are blessed with seeing these majestic birds as well. Thanks again for helping confirm our beliefs.
